We asked the alumni below, celebrating a birthday today, June 16, "Where are you now?" Here's what they said...

Taru Dharra MSQM '20
My husband, Nav (MBA '21), and I moved to NYC last year. I'm currently working as a lead analyst at OneMain Financial, where I help optimize the direct mail marketing initiatives. We are grateful for the Fuqua friends we have here in the city, and most of our weekends are spent hanging out with them.

Katharene Johnson MBA '11
I’m back in sunny Los Angeles with my husband, Shawn, and two rescue pups after spending about four years in London. It was such a great life adventure to live and work internationally prior to the pandemic, and I hope to do it again someday. Currently I’m the vice president of human resources at Activision, working primarily with our Call of Duty game development studios and operating teams. I had the chance to attend this year’s “one big one” Fuqua Reunion a few months ago, and I had an amazing time seeing classmates. The trip reinforced how lucky I feel to have such phenomenal Fuquans in my circle!

Hello Fuqua Community! After a few moves, I have settled in sunny Tucson, Arizona, where I am enjoying hiking and biking with my wonderful husband, Marc.

My wife, Jessica, and I, together with our one-year-old, Parker, are back home in Perth, Australia, proudly flying the Fuqua flag here. Despite being on the other side of the globe, I now work remotely for a Durham-headquartered company, working with a number of Duke and Fuqua people. Teamworks was founded by a Duke football player and is a leader in the sports tech industry, serving thousands of collegiate and professional sports teams around the globe. I now get regular trips back to NC for work, where I can catch up with classmates and visit campus.

Peter Welch '18, MMS '19
Since graduating from Fuqua, I moved to New York City and played two seasons of professional lacrosse in the MLL along with fellow Fuqua graduate Jake Seau '18, MMS '19. Currently, I am working for Cushman and Wakefield as a financial analyst for the investment sales team.

Where am I now? Since the onset of the pandemic, I moved back home to Southern California, and I spend most of my free time hanging out with Sierra (pictured here) and my family and close friends. Thanks to strong Duke connections, I am working in marketing analytics at Byte (LinkedIn networking never looked so good), and I write articles for Turo's blog on the side.

Caveni Wong MBA '02
Since Fuqua, I’ve lived in New York, Charlotte, back to New York, and now, more recently, at a farm in Upstate New York. My husband and I just attended the 20th-year Fuqua Reunion, and it was such a treat to see so many classmates! I’ve been working in corporate ethics and compliance, and I feel good about making a positive impact by making the (working) world a better place.
