Reflections
I’ve always been interested in pursuing a data analytics program—ideally one with a strong focus on health care. When I discovered the MSQM: Health Analytics program at Fuqua, it felt like the perfect fit. I was pleasantly surprised to find a curriculum that emphasizes health analytics and incorporates core business fundamentals. This unique combination allows me to strengthen my analytical and strategic thinking skills, which are essential for driving data-informed decisions in the health care industry. The program’s online format and Saturday classes also offer the flexibility I need to balance school with my professional responsibilities. Most importantly, being part of the Fuqua community has allowed me to connect with like-minded professionals from diverse backgrounds while learning from world-class faculty.
Before Fuqua
I am a Director of Clinical Chemistry and an assistant professor at a large academic medical center. My primary responsibilities include ensuring accurate and reliable laboratory results that support high-quality patient care. I am also responsible for developing new assays and verifying and validating assay performance to meet both regulatory standards and clinical needs. In addition, I maintain and improve quality management programs to ensure ongoing excellence in laboratory operations. I work closely with clinicians to interpret complex test results and provide consultative support to guide evidence-based decision-making. My role bridges laboratory science and clinical care to improve patient outcomes.
After Fuqua
After completing the MSQM: Health Analytics degree, I plan to integrate advanced data analytics into my current role to drive more informed, evidence-based decisions in the clinical laboratory setting. I hope to leverage the analytical tools and business insights gained to identify trends, improve operational efficiency, and enhance patient care outcomes. This degree will strengthen my ability to collaborate across departments and lead data-driven initiatives that support strategic planning and quality improvement efforts in health care.
Advice for Prospective Students
My best piece of advice for prospective students is to stay on top of the readings and pre-class recordings. Consistently keeping up with the material makes class time more engaging and helps you manage your workload more effectively. Strong time management skills are key to balancing the program with work and personal commitments.
