MMS: Duke Kunshan University student Kyle Hudson

“I gained a wealth of business knowledge and tactics from my peers. With team members coming from diverse fields such as psychology, accounting, and marketing, I had the opportunity to learn from their varied perspectives and expertise. This was especially valuable since I did not come from a business background myself.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

Fuqua has a deep history of academic excellence and strong sports culture. After working for a few years following my undergraduate studies, I wanted to transition into a master’s program in business to deepen my knowledge. My experience working in a professional sports environment in Taiwan was incredibly fulfilling, and I wanted to find a place where I could combine a top-tier education with the collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere I enjoyed so much. Fuqua offered the perfect blend of both.

Before Fuqua

I have dedicated my entire college and professional career to working in sports, and I aspire to continue in this field after graduation. Wanting to focus on the industry's business side, I saw the MMS program at Duke as the perfect opportunity to learn the fundamental skills needed to achieve my goals.

After Fuqua

I plan to pursue a career in sports management. My experience working with a professional sports team in Taiwan was incredibly rewarding, inspiring me to aim for a role where I can contribute to making larger strategic decisions. Earning a business degree became essential, as I needed to build a strong foundation in running a team as a business.

My 5 Favorite Duke Memories

  1. Going to my first Duke basketball game and experiencing the atmosphere
  2. Rushing the football field when Duke beat UNC
  3. Cooking and eating hotpot with my classmates
  4. Late-night runs to Cookout after long nights studying
  5. Stargazing at night in the Duke Gardens

The Value of the Fuqua Experience

I truly value my classmates and the diverse backgrounds they bring. They have pursued a wide range of majors and come from various countries. I appreciate the international environment and the richness of cultures reflected in both the classroom and extracurricular activities.

The Fuqua network is also incredibly extensive and welcoming. Whether it's asking questions about career opportunities or exploring different industries, the support extends to alumni, professors, and staff.
