After more than 30 years in Silicon Valley, I have recently relocated with my wife Tracy MacNeal, also a Duke grad, to Chapel Hill, NC, and am converting my neighbors to become Duke fans! We are spending a lot of time exploring Durham and love being in the community full time.  I am currently the CEO and President of Optina, a Montreal-based retinal imaging company focused on preventing age-related degenerative disease through early-stage detection and monitoring. 

Jamie Burks MBA'99

Married with 2 grown children based in Woodstock, GA.  My "baby" is currently in his senior year at McCallie and is headed off to college this August.  A very loooooong shot for him to join my alma mater 😉.  I did marry a Georgia Tech alumni, so to preserve the relationship, I do attend his sporting events.  We look forward to the next phase of life and where to put down new roots.

I and my wife, Jan, live in Montgomery, TX, which is about 55 miles north and 12 miles west of downtown Houston.  We live in a gated community, called Bentwater, which has 3 golf courses and all the typical amenities.  We are both retired.

I have lived and worked in the Houston area since I graduated from the business school.

In 2025, I left the startup world and I joined NVIDIA as a Product Manager where I am focused on building AI software that powers the next generation of AI applications. Outside of work, I’m an avid cyclist and traveler, always seeking new adventures whether bikepacking through North Carolina or exploring new countries with my wife. Go Duke!
