Bio

Dr. Vicki L. Bogan is an Economics professor in the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, a professor (secondary appointment) in the Fuqua School of Business, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).   She was previously the Geller Family Professor of Applied Economics and Policy in the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University.  Dr. Bogan was the founder and director of Cornell University’s Institute for Behavioral and Household Finance, and she is a founding co editor of the academic journal, Financial Planning Review.  She also served as the Chair of the Academic Research Council for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). 

Her research interests are in the areas of household finance, behavioral finance, inequality, and applied microeconomics.  Dr. Bogan’s impactful research has been published in leading economics and finance journals and she has testified before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services on the gamification of finance.  Further, she is frequently quoted and cited in various media outlets and was featured in the Netflix Documentary, "Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga." 

Dr. Bogan has taught economics and finance courses for graduate students, undergraduate students, and executive education. She has received two outstanding educator awards and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. 

Dr. Bogan holds a Sc.B. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University, an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in Economics from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University. She also has held visiting fellow appointments at Princeton University and Yale University.
