Bio
Gregory Samanez-Larkin is Professor of Marketing and Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University and is a professor (secondary appointment) in the Fuqua School of Business. His research explores what motivates people, how they learn, and how they make decisions across adulthood. He directs a basic research laboratory studying psychological and neural mechanisms of decision making and an interdisciplinary applied research group that translates behavioral science into real-world products, interventions, and communication strategies.
Samanez-Larkin's research has appeared in leading journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Psychological Science, Nature Aging, and Nature Reviews Neuroscience. His work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and industry partners.
Samanez-Larkin received his PhD in psychology from Stanford University, completed postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University, and was previously faculty at Yale University before joining Duke University. He teaches statistics, behavioral research methods, and decision science. He is a Bass Chair at Duke recognized for outstanding undergraduate teaching and research with several courses in the Top 5% of undergraduate instruction based on student evaluations.
