Parking and Walking Instructions
Parking Directions
Students and their guests should park in the Science Drive Garage (SDG) on Cameron Boulevard/751. There will be parking and event staff on hand to help direct guests to available parking, in addition to "Event Parking" signs throughout campus.
Please avoid driving directly through Duke's campus, especially on Towerview Road or Science Drive. We strongly encourage you to access the Science Drive Garage (SDG) at the intersection of Erwin Road/Cameron Boulevard (751) or the Duke University Road/Cameron Boulevard (751) intersection (indicated by the red arrows in the map below). Police will be directing graduation day traffic to this preferred route.
Expect some traffic congestion on Saturday due to a variety of Duke Athletics events and other graduation events happening near Cameroon Indoor Stadium. We recommend that you and your guests allow 20-30 minutes to arrive on campus and park, and an additional 10 minutes to walk from the Science Drive Garage to Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Walking Directions to Graduation Ceremony Site
After parking, both guests and graduates should exit the Science Drive Garage on Science Drive. From the Science Drive exit, guests and graduates will cross Science Drive, pass the Track & Field stadium, and turn left on the walking path in front of Koskinen Stadium.
As you pass through Whitford Parking lot and approach Cameron Indoor Stadium, you will see a small traffic circle. Guests should turn left after the circle to access Cameron Indoor through the Hall of Honor entrance. Graduates should turn right to report to the South Plaza. Line up will be inside the South Lobby.
Event staff will be available to direct pedestrians to the preferred route to access Cameron Indoor Stadium. Event signage will also be posted at various points along the route.
Comfortable walking shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and umbrellas (in case of rain) are also highly recommended.
Special Accommodations for Proximity Parking
If any guests have mobility impairments or severe health conditions that would require them to have proximity parking, the student must complete the survey on the Special Accommodations page to request access to proximity parking. This parking space access is limited, so students should only request this access if their guest(s) have serious mobility or health conditions that require these accommodations.
